Into His Likeness

One of my younger sister lives within a few miles of my family. Occasionally we will run into each other, on the road. Last night was one such time.

My wife needed some things for the Thanksgiving dinner. I was tempted to go get them during the day but hesitated due to the traffic. I realized the traffic would be horrendous. So I waited until it was dark and there would be very little traffic. Unfortunately that meant I only had to make haste to reach the supermarket before it closed.

Thankfully I reached with only a few minutes to spare. As I was about to enter the store out walked my sister. Her cute little daughter was quietly sitting in the trolley. My sister looked me up and down. With a mischievous grin on her face she said, “I had to look twice. I said to myself. Wait I just saw Evrol.”

I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. It was funny to hear her say that. When we were youths, almost everyone we met assumed we were twins. We were two years apart in age but people thought we were identical twins. I knew I have always resembled my older brother Evrol. Now it seems I am looking more and more like Him. To hear my sister confirm it erased all doubts from my mind.

That incident had me reflecting on our fellowship with God. He created us in His image and likeness. Very often as we grow naturally we do not look, sound or act like Him. After making Him our Lord and Savior, we will begin to spend time in with Him. As we persist, everyone will see the difference. What is done in secret will be expose in the light. People will begin saying you sound and act like Jesus!

May I encourage you? Continue to draw near to God. He will draw near to you. Those times in the secret place will mold you into His likeness. Your labor will be known to all.

Be blessed!

Acts 4:13

Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
