Prayer is Conversation with The King

In late 2017 I heard the Lord say “watch out your prayers will be attacked”. I became very watchful and dove deeper into prayer. More time was spent pushing in prayer. The Devil was not going to win!

One year later, prayer became a chore. I was doing everything I knew. Observing set times of prayer. Getting up early to go into prayer. Using prayer books occasionally. Reading up on prayer. Observing prayer watches. More hours were put into prayer but the joy was lacking. I thought this was the work of the enemy to block my prayers.

Now I can be very stubborn. I can be very stubborn. I was not backing down. So I kept pushing. Slowly I was loosing my enthusiasm for prayer. The joy of God’s Presence was waning. That dry spell continued for a year. Some days were good. Some days there was no pushing through the barrier.

“What is happening? I have never experienced this before?”

I cried out to God for help!

He responded by rebuilding my prayer life. The formulas and routines were removed. “Practise my presence”, I was told. “Converse with Me throughout the day. Do not wait until the set times of prayer”. What was made very clear was the fact that prayer is a conversation with THE KING (Revelation 11:15). It is not a monologue. It is a two way conversation. One speaks, the other party listens as we converse with Him, our wonderful, beautiful Lord and Savior. In that time of exchange we are refreshed, strengthened, and renewed, our prayer list is answered even without us making the requests known (Isaiah 65:24).

We must not forget that we are made priest by Christ Jesus. Our calling is according to the Order of Melchizedek. We do not go to Him on behalf of the people but go to the people on behalf of King Jesus (Hebrews 5:6-10; 6:20; 7:21) .

Just recently I took a very long list of prayer points before Him. A few minutes into the prayer He began conversing with me. As we spoke I wrote down the points. He would stop talking then drop what must be prayed about into my heart. I would pray then He would speak. This continued for quite some time. When He was finished I checked the time and was so surprised at the number of hours that had rushed by. Then I remember that I had a list.

“Oh my the List has not been touched”

Knowing my thoughts He responded.

“You forget that I called you to prayer. I moved the people to send in their requests. I know all that is desired. The list is done.”

He then began to speak about every every item.

As I reflected on the moment. I kept hearing Bobby Conners voice.

(Jesus to Him) “Bobby my people do not want to talk to me. Prayer meetings is the least attended event at church. I will give you something that will energize their prayer.”

(His response) “Yes Lord! Yes Lord! I want it. Please give me”

(Jesus to Him) “They will rush to prayer meetings. Bobby tell them. You let them know: Prayer is conversation with The King!”

Isaiah 56:7, Amplified Bible Classic (AMPC)

Even those I will bring to My holy mountain
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar;
For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”
