22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23
We are all beneficiaries of a great gift from our Father. He grants it every day. We can be assured that the gift is replaced every day. We will never be without. Never be in need.
What is this gift? My friend I speak of God’s mercy. His goodness that extends to us daily.
What is so significant about that? It is an absolute necessity for our survival and communion with our Heavenly Father.
You see our God is holy. He utterly detests sin. Our sin separates us from Him. It removes us from His presence. We all sin and fall short of His glory every day, by our thoughts and deeds. There is none righteous no not one! Thankfully, we will never be permanently removed from Him. His love for us sinners is abundant.
He is love. The full and greatest expression of love. Like a mighty river, a vast ocean, his love flows freely to us and for us.
We do try hard to walk upright before Him. We do our best. Yet it seems no matter how hard we try we constantly fall short. Our desire for our own self-interest, no matter how basic, often is a source of our downfall. Sometimes we sin while in traffic or riding public transportation. Someone violates our space and we are ready to fight. Someone dresses in a manner we do not lie and we quickly judge. We constantly fail in our christian walk. Just like babies taking their first step we move forward a few paces, then fall down.
Thankfully, we do not have to stay down. God gives us the upliftment of mercy. Like air under the wings of a plane it lifts us. It empowers us to keep moving; one step at a time.
So is His mercy. It renews and restores us. Thankfully He is not looking at the size of our failing. He examines our heart.
His response comes to strengthen us in our brokenness. We are made whole as mercy wraps itself around us.
Thank God that He does not withhold his mercy but gives it liberally, each day. You can be assured that no matter what you have done, God grants mercy with each new day. The old things are removed. He extends love. He forgives. He forgets.
‘New every morning‘ is His mercy. Without failing. Without ceasing. They are new every day.
Expression of Gratitude
Thank you Father for the outpouring of your mercy. Thank you for its refreshing embrace. Your mercy has restored me. Your mercy has kept me. Thank you that my sins are forgiven, washed away by the blood of the lamb. It is because of your mercy I am still here. At my lowest point when I had given up hope, mercy rescued me.
I can smile and be truly happy. Mercy has rescued me. Thank you for the cashable unlimited supply of your mercy.
Thank you Abba, Father.
