Friends God sent Nehemiah to rebuild Jerusalem. He was in Babylon but the Lord moved him to give up his life of luxury as the King’s Chief Cupbearer to go and encourage his people. They had returned to rebuild but had lost heart. The numerous opposition they faced had discouraged them. So they settled with a life of easy and only spent time building their homes. The city of the Lord was left in ruins. The nobles oppressed the poor.
11 So I came to Jerusalem and was there for three days.
12 Then I got up in the night, I and a few men with me. I did not tell anyone what my God was putting in my heart to do for Jerusalem, and there was no animal with me except the one on which I was riding [so as not to attract attention].
13 So I went out at night by the Valley Gate toward the Dragon’s Well and to the Refuse Gate and inspected the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and its gates which were consumed by fire.
14 Then I passed over to the Fountain Gate and to the King’s Pool, but there was no place for the animal that I was riding to pass.
15 So I went up at night by the ravine [of Kidron] and inspected the wall; then I turned back and entered [the city] by the Valley Gate, and returned.
16 The officials did not know where I had gone or what I had done; nor had I yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials, or the rest who did the work.
17 Then I said to them, “You see the bad situation that we are in—how Jerusalem is desolate and lies in ruins and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, and let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, so that we will no longer be a disgrace.”
18 Then I told them how the hand of my God had been favorable to me and also about the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, “Let us rise up and build.” So they thoroughly supported the good work.
19 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked us and regarded us with contempt and said, “What is this thing you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king?”
20 I answered them, “The God of heaven [has appointed us for His purpose and] will give us success; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no portion, right, or memorial in Jerusalem.
Friends, in this hour God is raising up Repairers of the Breach. God is raising up a breed of people who have the Nehemiah anointing. They are called to repair the walls of the temple, the walls of the city, the walls of the tower. To restore the breach that is in the wall. He is secretly molding and fashioning them for the work ahead.
State of the Bride
Why are Repairers needed? Modern churches have done things their way for a long time. The result has been some of the problems we find.
- We have not allowed the Holy Spirit to be Lord among His people and in the assembly, the congregation of the righteous.
Most churches believe being filled with the Holy Spirit is talking in tongues. And no more. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are suppressed and not allowed to be used for the perfecting of the saints.
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is so much more. I means we are lead by the Holy Spirit. We walk in a authority and glory that cannot be hidden. Men will see and know there is a God. (Acts 2; 19:11-12; 5:12)
“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 AMP)
They will tremble. Did you know the people had reverential fear of the apostles? (Acts 2:42-47;4:32-35;5:11-13)
When you make this stand for God there will be prosecution, rejection, ridicule, betrayal, an a host of other things that the enemy will throw at you. Though these weapons will form they will not prosper. There will be sweet, sweet victory for the Kingdom of Heaven.(Acts 4:29)
- We have seen the rise of seeker-friendly worship. The sheep lead the Shepherd. Members tell the leaders what they want and it is built to accommodate them. This happened in the wilderness. The people told Aaron how they wanted to worship. He did what they wanted and built them a golden calf (Exodus 32). In these assemblies the spirit of compromise is embraced. The church does everything to make attendees feel comfortable. Service is watered down. It only entertains. There is no conviction, no deliverance, no healing. Devils are counselled. Not cast out. There is no balm in Gilead for the sin-sick soul.
‘Is there no balm in Gilead, is there no physician there? Why then is there no recovery for the health of the daughter of my people?’ – Jeremiah 8:22, NKJV
People are only fed a diet of dry bread. A dead feel-good message. The result is evident. People come in bound and remain bound. The inside of this sepulchre is filled with dead man’s bones. There is no power to set the captives free.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. – 2 Timothy 4:3-4, NKJV
- At one extreme, we have instituted many rules to regulate the lives of people. Do not handle that. Do not touch that. Keep your skirt length down to the floor. Do not let your arms be seen. Do not have any tattoos. Observe days, rituals and feasts. Ignore those that are not baptised as we do. Our way is the only way to heaven. This is the way to righteousness and holiness. “Be separated and come out from among them.”
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.” – Matthew 23:23, NKJV
- On the other end of the extreme, there is an ‘anything goes’ culture that permeates some churches. Taken to the extreme men have been allowed to indulge all their carnal desires and still are considered acceptable by God.
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. – 2 Timothy 3:1-2,5,7
If you see people flowing in the gifts of the spirit do not be fooled. The devil is able to mock the anointing. When Moses drew down his rod and it turned into a serpent, Pharaoh’s magicians did the same. Moses serpent ate up their serpent. When He did other miracles, so did the magicians, astrologers and sorcerers. Finally, Moses did something they could not duplicate. Then they had to concede that it was the hand of God.
Again be not fooled.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, – Romans 1:18
- We receive a piece of the truth, a small revelation of the gospel and have built denominational silos. The sheep is taught that only their assembly has the truth. No one else is going to heaven. So we have religious pride and self-righteousness plaguing some congregations. The spirit of the Pharisees stands boldly in their midst. Believers talk in tongues and run around the building but there is no love. Only condemnation. God sends people to be saved but they are quickly send away. The worst impact of the denominational silos have been the fracturing of the body of Christ. We spend so much time quarreling with each other and not walking in love that the church’s strength is depleted.
Society suffers for it. Our nations are left up to the whims and fancy of the Kingdom of darkness.
We do not produce persons who will shake an entire nation for the glory of God. Not have a large conference but has glory and power that causes Kings (Presidents, Prime Ministers and other national leaders) to take notice. Moses was one man and he brought a super-power nation to its knees. Elijah boldly challenged idolatry and wickedness in the nation of Israel. The King could not ignore him. Whatever came from his mouth God honored.
Hear the word of the Lord, ‘He will show His disapproval. People will be raised up that cannot be claimed by a congregation. A denomination will not be able to say “come for we only have the truth”.’
When Christ Jesus ascended He left His body. It is united. There are various parts that make up the whole. Each has its function. Each has its purpose. We have fractured the body of Christ. Its strength is depleted. Time is wasted on debates and squabbles that do not advance the Kingdom of the one true and living God. They do not edify or strengthen.
And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. – 1 Corinthians 8:2
For we know in part and we prophesy in part. – 1 Corinthians 13:9
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. – 1 Corinthians 13:12
It is not all doom and gloom. Although, the church passed through a dark period for centuries the Holy Spirit was still working. Just as He is today.
Considerable progress has been made. Times of refreshing has restored:
- The Word (the Bible) to the common man. Thanks to the efforts of John Wyciffe and Martin Luther;
- The fire of God;
- The office of the Evangelist;
- The working of miracles;
- The word of faith;
- The various manifestations of the gift of Prophesy and the office of the Prophet;
- The office of the Apostle.
Segments of society has started to take the voice of the Prophets seriously. Although, it is still seen as the pathetic instead of the prophetic. People are turning to the Prophets to hear a Word from God. However, they are trying to use the Prophets as a obeah man, psychic, medium or voodoo priest. Only what they want to hear must be said. It must always be good.
There are ministries that teach people to prosper God’s way. They are taught to walk in victory but those ministries are few in number.
Awakening the Bride
The Bride still remains in a state of confusion. She has not awaken to her true identity in Christ. She walks around in tatters. The oil in her lamp is not full. Like the foolish virgins she has gone out to get oil for her lamp. (Matthew 25:1-13)
The Bridegroom, our risen Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, is about to return. His bride must be made ready. There isn’t a moment to lose. We are in a very urgent crisis.
She must awake to her true identity. She must be arrayed in fine raiments. She must be crowned with many crowns. Like Esther being prepared to see the King. She must be purged with sweet calamus, myrrh, incense and sweet fragrance. She must find favor in His eyes. (Esther 2:12-17)
Esther hid her identity. It was only when her life and that of her people were threatened that she revealed it. This bride, the perfect woman, the shunamite woman, will show her identity boldly.
She will draw out her sword and not replace it until the enemy is cast down. Her sword is the Word of the Living God. She skillfully uses it to bring liberty to the masses. She rides at the head of the battle like Deborah, with Lapidoth (Judges 4:4-16).
She wears the whole armor of God. Her head is crowned with the helmet of salvation, her waist girded with truth, her torso fortified with the breastplate of righteousness, her feet covered with good news of the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Power. She is not wonder woman. She is the beautiful, perfected bride of Christ. (Ephesians 6:11-18)
She dances and worships with total and complete abundant. Just as Miriam, the Prophetess did. She gives true and pure worship to her Creator, her God, her King, the Lover of her soul, the Bridegroom. (Exodus 15:20-21)
The bride is just waking from her sleep. She is just realising who she is.
Arise and Rebuild
Your help is needed. The master has need of you. He has need of your hands and your feet. He has need of your heart, your mind and you soul. He has need of you. There is much work to do but the labourers are few. (Matthew 9:35-38)
You may say, “I am already serving”. That is great! Ask yourself these questions.
- Am I at the level in God that I know without a doubt that God has called me?
- Am I walking in my destiny and purpose?
- Am I fulfilling my role to perfect the body of Christ?
If your answer is no, observe.
There is a breach in the wall.
There is an American legend of a boy that saved Holland. The story says one day after visiting an elderly friend the boy was on his way home. He was walking pass a dike when he heard water trickling. He knew that if he did not act immediately there would be considerable danger. What did he do? He placed his finger in the hole. It stopped the water from coming through. All night long stayed there. The night was cold and frightening but he did not move. He sat there. The next morning help came. A priest saw him and went for help. He got people to come and repair the wall. The boy was carried home. His quick action prevented water from bursting the wall and flooding the nearby villages. Everyone was saved. (You can read it here)
Friends, there is a breach. Mankind has drifted far from his Creator. We have drifted so far that we have lost touch with who we are. We do not understand that we were called to be holy – set apart, sanctified for His service and righteous before Him, our Lord and Savior.
We were crowned with glory. David the psalmist said God made us little gods over this earth (John 10:34; Psalm 82:6). Our father Adam was made in the image and likeness of God. He had command over the earth, the sky, the land and seas. There was dominion over every creature and authority over everything except another man (Genesis 1:26-28).
What He spoke became reality.
You see He was one with the Creator. He walked and talked with His Father just as our natural sons do with their father. He was gifted with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. He operated as the angels did. What He thought and said could become reality because He had the mind of Christ. He was gifted with wisdom, knowledge and understanding by His Creator. He never prayed to the Father. They simply talked. (Genesis 3:7-10; )
What God thought about for the earth Adam knew. They were divinely connected. They talked about everything. He knew physics, the natural and spiritual laws upholding creation. He knew the genetic makeup of everything. He not only had perfect vision, he had perfected vision. He could see through anything. His spiritual eyes were wide open, so he saw on different spectrums of vision. (1 Corinthians 2:16; Jeremiah 23:8; John 15:15)
It was given to him to know all things pertaining to the earth. His eyes only beheld (saw) good until he sinned. Since that fateful day mankind has drifted further and further away from our Father.
There is a breach. It must be repaired. You are called to help repair that breach.
I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for [the sake of] the land, that I would not destroy it, but I found no one [not even one].
Ezekiel 22:30 AMP
The repairers are a people who are like the donkey Jesus rode into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-11, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19). There is nothing overwhelmingly special about them. Society does not admire them for their beauty. All they see is the burden they are made to bare. Their name is not important. They do not seek glory but to have Jesus glorified. They are radical. They are surrendered vessels, refined in the Potter’s fire. Purified and fit for good work. Man sees your past. God sees your future. He sees your shame. He sees your failures and He wants to use it for His glory.
The Holy Spirit says
“Come you lost, tired, weary, rejected and worn let me pour oil on you. Let me give you the latter and former rain. Let me show forth My glory in you. Help Me make the bride ready.
Repair the breach. Repair the breach.”
