Healing Meditation – Loving God

13 ‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.

Deuteronomy 11:13-14

“I love God!”

How often have you made this declaration? Have you thought about your reason for loving Him?

This may be unbelievable but many believers struggle with this question. They made the initial confession of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior but have not allowed this to become a reality in their life. The struggle comes because there isn’t a clear reason for loving Him. Did you think having a reason will offend Him? Rest assured this does not offend Him. He expects you to be able to articulate your reason.

Your answer will establish your purpose for pursuing Him. It is the engine that will keep you steadfast in your pursuit. It gives you a vision of what is desired – your destination. Without a vision, a reason, interest will be lost.

When we make the initial surrender to His Lordship we feel happy and at peace. We feel complete. We are like a child with a new toy. She is filled with joy and happiness. For a few days she takes it everywhere with her. She does everything with it. Creative ways are invented to involved the toy in the eating of breakfast, bath, walks, playtime, etc. She tells her friends about it. It is hard to separate her from it. At bedtime it must be tucked in between the sheets also. Did I say they are inseparable? In the morning her first thought is about the new toy. After a few days there is a gradual change in her enthusiasm. The interest begins to dim. Less attention is given to the toy. There is no desire to carry it around. Eventually it joins the other overlooked toys in the corner.

Our relationship with God is the same. Without a purpose, if we are not careful we will loose interest. Most of us are on fire when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. There is a euphoria and fire. We do everything to maintain the fire. We are up ever early in the mornings to pray, we read the Bible in the morning and throughout the day, every opportunity we get we quote the Word of God, we also seek to hear His voice. We push into His presence! Eventually it gets less priority, as the testings and trials come. We did not have a clear purpose, so we drift. Now we do not read the Bible daily, pray, worship, fast, give thanks, fellowship or share the gospel. The problems of life has our attention.

He understands that it will happen. Even with a clear purpose. It can and will happen. So it is very important to express our love for Him daily in worship and adoration, with every fiber of our being – our heart, mind, soul and spirit. When we do He refreshes us and strengthens us for the journey ahead. Our zeal is maintained.

God rewards our devotion. He promised to ensure that our needs are met. That’s what He means when He says I will give you the rain. The rain is the blessings of God. Whatever we do will prosper. Our needs will be met. We and our children will also have good health, to enjoy it.

Focus on maintaining your fire for God. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. The reward for your worship will be given. God binds himself to that commitment.
