On February 3, 2015 at 11:30 AM, we drove out of a conference with a sibling. She had just conducted a workshop for the University’s annual conference. All had gone well. We were talking about it when the Holy Spirit gave me this scripture.
I continued talking about her presentation. So I decided to look it up later. Her presentation was well received. The room was packed. All participants gave her excellent ratings.
We were excited. Yet that was not the basis for our joy. She was anticipating something better. We were proceeding to another location where a life changing decision would be finalized. After a year of struggling to acquire her home it was finally happening.
A few minutes later she called to confirm her appointment. I saw her face change. Her eyes narrowed. Her voice shifted. It became very stern and formal. The atmosphere changed but I was focused on the scripture. The call provided the perfect opportunity to look it up.
Hebrews 10:23 (New King James Version)
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful
Why was He telling me this? In a few seconds I received the answer. We had just received bad news. It was contrary to the Word of the Lord two months ago. He had me tell her that he would provide a home. All she had to do was trust and depend on Him. Very shortly after the prophetic word things started moving rapidly. A house was located. A nice Christian couple owned it. They were eager to sell. The home was ideal and required no repairs. It was within budget. Schools with high ratings were in that county; from the middle to the high school. There was very little crime. Everything was perfect until this.
As I was told the details of what happened, I meditated on the scripture and realise that the Lord was saying:
“What seems bad is only a delay. I have promised and I am faithful to fulfill My word. Delay is not denial.
You must be careful of what you speak. Only confess My promise from your mouth. Meditate on it only. Let not your sight determine what you believe.”
We went home feeling a little downcast. Nonetheless I was confident that God’s word would stand. Much work had to be done to unpack. After a few hours she decided not to unpack everything. Only a few necessities were unpacked.
Three months later, God fulfilled His word. She moved into a bigger and better home. Glory to God!
When all seems hopeless hold fast your confession.
II Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Hebrews 10:38 (NKJV)
Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.”
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Matthew 11:12 (NKJV)
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
